Safety before claims

Good furniture does not excuse casual electrical design.

The cabinet can be built locally. The charging appliance must still be engineered, controlled, tested, and evaluated as a complete product.

Separate the power system

Mains and charging components live in an isolated, tool-access, powder-coated steel rear compartment—not directly against exposed composite wood.

Buy controlled components

Use listed or recognized power supplies, controllers, cords, plugs, strain reliefs, protective-earth hardware, and temperature protection. Substitutions are engineering changes.

Evaluate the complete cart

Engage a nationally recognized testing laboratory before freezing the construction. The applicable path may include furniture and furniture-power-distribution standards in the UL 962 / UL 962A family, as confirmed by the lab.

Control the wood inputs

Specify TSCA Title VI-compliant composite panels, seal exposed core, document the finish system, and keep ventilation and heat testing in the approval plan.

UL Listed, ETL Listed, BIFMA compliant, GREENGUARD certified, medical-grade, infection-control certified, or suitable for patient vicinity.

What the design targets

A serviceable cabinet architecture, controlled component package, documented materials, and a clear path to qualified engineering and third-party evaluation.

Prototype release tests

Evidence required before a unit ships.

Structure

Loaded shelf, caster pull-out, threshold impact, and tip resistance

Mobility

Tracking, steering, brake hold, handle load, and loaded incline

Electrical

Ground/bond, leakage, dielectric, fault, cord, plug, strain relief, and abnormal operation

Thermal

Worst-case managed load, blocked or restricted ventilation, and controller derating

Security

Door cycle, hinge, three-point lock, latch alignment, and pinch-point review

Traceability

Serial, revision, component lots, inspection record, labels, and controlled traveler

Use the Rev A manual for cabinet prototyping.

It includes controlled geometry, cut lists, assembly order, and inspection gates—but intentionally excludes DIY mains wiring.
